While Change Management (CM) is a mainstay of a well-rounded ITIL® service management solution, it may surprise you to know that it is equally functional when modeled and applied to the healthcare environment.
Case in point, let's use CM to create a potential Hospital Construction Expansion Project. By itself this is a straight forward "construction project". So our Request for Change (RFC) process will have individual subordinate tasks and approval steps linking one another through completion of the project.
To be specific, we are not abandoning the ITIL® definition of Change, to the contrary we are using the inherent controls within to manage, review, approve and move a project from a defined start to an anticipated conclusion.
